Dunkin’, Quick Quack Car Wash expected to open next year in Prospector’s Plaza near Placerville

Prospector’s Plaza is a retail center near Placerville.

More changes are coming to Prospector’s Plaza near Placerville in 2024, with the arrivalof Dunkin’ and Quick Quack Car Wash.

The incoming businesses have been a long time coming, said Chris Shane, managing partner of Gryphon Capital, which along with Rich Development Co. owns the center.

After negotiating leases in early 2022, Roseville-based Quick Quack Car Wash andCanton, Massachusetts-based Dunkin’ have plans in various stages of development totake space at the shopping center at the Missouri Flat Road interchange along Highway50.

Dunkin’, a coff ee and doughnut chain with more than 13,200 locations worldwide, willoccupy a 2,200-square-foot space at the intersection of Plaza Drive and Missouri FlatRoad. The site was previously a bank building that was demolished and replaced by atwo-suite retail pad. The doughnut chain will occupy a portion of the pad, with AspenDental set to take the rest.

Shane said the building is close to being completed and both Dunkin’ and Aspen Dentalare expected to open early next year.

Prospector’s Plaza is one of the largest shopping centers in El Dorado County and isanchored by an 86,414-square-foot Target store that opened in 2020. The center, whichwas built in 1982, underwent a renovation that was completed at the end of 2021.Gryphon Capital and Rich Development purchased the 19.9-acre property for $24.13million in 2019.

“It was a dated center, so we replaced the former Kmart with Target and have beens systematically updating the tenant mix to bring in fresh restaurants and retailers to the market,” Shane said.

As part of the center’s ongoing transformation, Quick Quack Car Wash is expected to beconstructed on the north side of the project next year. Shane anticipates the new facilitywill be operating by the third quarter of 2024. The location is expected to include a3,956-square-foot automatic vehicle wash and with vacuum-accessible parking stalls.

Quick Quack Car Wash also has a site in the works in Cameron Park. The local chainbegan operating in 2004 and has reached more than 190 locations throughout California,Arizona, Colorado, Texas and Utah.

In addition, Jersey Mike’s Subs is planning to fi ll a 960-square-foot suite near the center’sCVS Pharmacy. Shane said the sandwich shop should be open by the end of the year.

Prospector’s Plaza has also signed a lease with electric vehicle manufacturer RivianAutomotive Inc. (Nasdaq: RIVN) to install some of its charging stations on the property,where Tesla Inc. (Nasdaq: TSLA) also has electric vehicle chargers. Shane said the newcharging stations are expected to be operational by next spring.

Other tenants at Prospector’s Plaza include The Habit Burger Grill, Mattress Firm,Anytime Fitness, Save Mart Supermarkets, Ross Dress for Less and Bath & Body Works,according to the center’s directory.
